During my 5 years in Barcelona, I always had a good friend ready to share a beer and cheer me up if I had any problem. So when I left the city I made a promise: I will always be there for my friends if they need a beer, no matter how far I would be in the world. I created Birreiro, a coaster that virtually places me with my friends and even pays for their beer if it’s needed just using their phone. When one of my friends place their smartphone on Birreiro, the coaster will automatically start a video conference with me using their device, so my friend and I can share a beer virtually. I also developed a website where they can follow the instructions. By using simply NFC technology I transformed a coaster into a communication device.
